This is for all those who do not know me, my name is Shyamal and i have been riding to NERM for many many years now. NERM to me has been a gateway to the north east and I have been lucky to have witnessed some of the best NERMs and have absolutely enjoyed the hospitality and the culture of each event.

“The journey is the destination and the path follows the imaginations.
Throttles roar, the engines growl, Restless spirits on the prowl,
Road off the beaten trail, away from ringtones and voicemails,
Far from the corporate crowd….Alone we stand…..Bikers proud.”

This song was our anthem and yes I live by it. I don't ride for likes or a digital footprint. I ride coz i love to ride. I ride coz i love to eat different foods from different places, I ride coz i enjoy the hospitality of the local people.

What started as a small gathering of passionate riders has today become a powerful movement connecting the entire North East through friendship, adventure, and brotherhood. NERM was created with one simple vision — to unite riders beyond borders, clubs, and backgrounds under one road and one spirit.

Over the years, we have ridden through mountains, valleys, rain, and difficult roads, but the strongest journey has always been the bond we built together. NERM is not only about motorcycles; it is about respect, discipline, culture, and inspiring riders to become responsible ambassadors of the riding community.

Seeing thousands of riders come together today fills us with pride and hope for the future. To every rider who joins this family — remember that the true identity of a rider is not speed, but unity, humility, and the courage to keep moving forward.

What does NERM mean to u as a rider?
North East by far holds a very special place in my heart. One founding member of NERM once said, "Sir, you are iron. Why do you ride plastic?" That moment made me say goodbye to my Pulsar 220 for a Royal Enfield Classic 500 CC. Today it has become my identity, taking me across Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Mizoram, Manipur and Sikkim. NERM introduced me to a culture of biking and opened roads to test my ability. I was in my mid-60s then; today at 77, I still throttle with NERM clubs. I truly feel NERM’s energy unites diverse riders across countries in one culture — Brotherhood.
A standout or unforgettable encounter from any NERM event
How can I forget my first ride for NERM with RERAM, alongside my brothers on wheels? That ride, and many after, proved one thing: Brotherhood at its best. Brothers and sisters riding as one identity — the riders. Another standout was the Hornbill Festival bike rally from Dimapur to Kisama, Kohima, culminating in a rousing reception at Kisama. It set a benchmark and became an annual feature thereafter.
How the spirit of the Northeast biking community has impacted your riding journey?
Northeast and its spirit of biking instill discipline, brotherhood, exposure to diverse cultures, and the joy of riding together. Stories aren’t just written on wheels — they live in our conversations, binding the brothers and sisters of riding community as one. That is the power of this teamwork. Northeast riding community didn’t just change how I ride; it changed who I ride as.

The Iron Man

Attending NERM (North East Riders Meet) as a participant from Nepal has been one of the most memorable experiences of my riding journey. NERM is not just a motorcycle gathering . it is a celebration of friendship, adventure, and the spirit of motorcycling. Meeting riders from different regions and countries helped me learn about diverse cultures and riding traditions. One of my favorite memories was riding with fellow enthusiasts through beautiful landscapes and being welcomed warmly by the host community. The evening cultural programs, campfire gatherings, and sharing stories with riders from various backgrounds created unforgettable bonds. The event gave me an opportunity to represent Nepal and strengthen friendships beyond borders , and we make nerm 2015 an international event as well. NERM has shown me that motorcycling is more than riding machines .it is about unity, respect, and lifelong friendships. The experience inspired me to continue exploring new destinations and promoting brotherhood among riders across South Asia and beyond.

My first trip to NERM was ten years ago, 2016 in Meghalaya, representing our club, the Bhutan Dragons Motorcycle Club (BDMC). The founding members of our club had attended the very first NERM, and then our club members started attending on a regular basis from 2015 Assam onwards. Since 2016, NERM has been a regular and much-awaited biking event for me, something that I look froward to with great anticipation and excitement. NERM has allowed me to make wonderful friends from all parts of Northeast India, Nepal and other areas of India. We have met many times over the years and our shared NERM experience gives our friendship a special bond that gets deeper as the years go by. I remember clearly the first time in 2016 when our small group of Bhutan Dragons bikers rode for NERM, there was a charge of electric energy around us, something that grew as we rode and met up with more and more riding groups on the road, all headed the same direction. As a long time biker myself and as a veteran member of our own MC club, I have been on more than my share of group rides and long rides. But this NERM ride was different, it brought forth in me a sense of fresh energy and wide-eyed excitement that a young boy might feel while venturing out on a great adventure. And this is the feeling I experience every time I set out for NERM. And once we reach the NERM venue, the several days of complete brotherhood and feeling of camaraderie and just plain, authentic joy is a feeling that is very difficult to find in today’s over-commercialized world of overly-managed events and heavy-handed corporate “experiences.” The ethos of NERM, “When we meet we grow,” aligns beautifully with our own MC club’s slogan, “Love to Ride, Ride to Love.” Wishing the Open Road Wanderers Motorcycle Club all the Very Best for hosting this year’s North East Rider’s Meet, from all member of the Tarayana Bhutan Dragons Motorcycle Club.

The North East Riders Meet has always been the biggest continuous gathering of only the RE Riders exclusively in India for more than 15 years now. Apart from what each Club has their own vision of riding throughout the year, this gathering annually aims at bringing every rider regardless of clubs, religion, caste, creed etc. under one roof, to connect with each other, to meet old friends and to make new ones and expand the horizon of Brotherhood. I wish the hosting club for the 16th NERM, the Open Road Wanderers MC, Sikkim the best in organizing this year’s edition.

My introduction to NERM happened in Tura, 2024, and it instantly stood out as a completely different experience from the more organized BOBMC Rider Mania. While other events often feel polished and commercial, NERM embraces a raw, unfiltered essence that truly captures the spirit of motorcycle riding and brotherhood.

What I love most is the no-frills camping format. Every rider stays together in tents on a first-come, first-served basis. There’s no VIP section or luxury option — you pitch your tent wherever space is available, which means you can’t choose your neighbors. This simple arrangement breaks the ice naturally and forces real interactions. Late-night conversations, shared meals, and events turn strangers into friends and build a strong sense of community.

I keep returning to NERM because it gives me the opportunity to connect with riders from across the Northeast — people who share the same passion despite coming from different states and backgrounds. Beyond the riding, it’s a cultural immersion. Each edition is hosted in a different state, allowing us to experience local traditions, food, music, and hospitality. It also opens the door to explore hidden gems, scenic routes, and offbeat destinations in and around the host region.

In short, NERM isn’t just an event — it’s a journey of camaraderie, adventure, and personal growth. If you’re looking for raw riding experiences and meaningful connections, this is where you belong.

My name is Manish Mishra, and I'm one of the founding member of "Decent Soul MC", Arunachal Pradesh.
My passion for riding began in 2007 alongside my friend Nabum Jose from ABC. What started as a shared love for motorcycles soon grew into a lifelong commitment to the riding community. In 2009, a small group of passionate riders from Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, and Shillong gathered at Kaziranga to discuss organizing a biking event exclusively for the North Eastern states. That meeting marked the birth of NERM (North East Rider's Meet) with the motto:

"When We Meet, We Grow."

The vision was simple—to create a platform where riders from every corner of the North East could come together, build friendships, and celebrate the spirit of motorcycling. Over the years, NERM grew far beyond our expectations. What began as a regional gathering gradually attracted riders from across India. Soon, participants from Nepal, Bhutan, The United States and Australia also became a part of this incredible journey.
Today, NERM is one of the most awaited motorcycle gatherings in the region and a dream event for many new riders. It is a place where lifelong friendships are formed, unforgettable memories are created, and the true spirit of brotherhood is celebrated.
Although NERM was established in 2009, I attended my first meet in 2010. Since then, I have never missed a single edition. Every year has given me new experiences, new friendships, and countless unforgettable moments.
NERM is much more than a motorcycle event. It is a celebration of unity among riders, riding clubs, and the entire riding fraternity. Hosted every year by a different North Eastern state on a rotational basis, the event gives participants the opportunity to experience the host state's unique culture, traditions, cuisine, tourist destinations, and warm hospitality.
More importantly, it brings together thousands of riders in one place to enjoy music, share stories, spread love and brotherhood, strengthen friendships, and create memories that last a lifetime. As every edition comes to an end, we leave with one promise and one hope—to meet again the following year at a new destination, united by the same passion for riding and the bonds that make us one family. For me, NERM is not just a riding event—it is a family reunion on two wheels, a celebration of unity, and a journey filled with unforgettable memories.

I sincerely wish Open Road Wanderers all the very best for hosting the 2nd edition of NERM. I am confident that your team will make this edition even more memorable and successful. Generations and technology does bring along changes with more refined and better ideas to tackle the Rawness of the previous ones which has it's own charm in its own way🤷‍♂️,as somebody who had experienced different events hosted from passed decade till the recent one,i see the positive Enthusiasm, spirit of Camaraderie and Bond among attendees and ofcourse new ones are yet to understand the concept of the Meet through attendance, experience and guidance. More events are coming along the way among regional communities as to bring out the spirit of brotherhood share their cultural activities and explore new Horizons with the same concept along with Riding but no such events are going to steer my mind away from "North East Rider's Meet" as long as the host can accommodate Rider's with the popular tagline "When we meet,we Grow"and think of giving the best to their fellow brothers as promised and not focus on popularity and their healthy bank accounts.
